Literature Text

I'd promise you the world,
If I thought it'd win your heart,
Just to see the twinkle in your eye,
I'd know I've done my part.
If all the things I could do,
Would bring you here to stay,
I'd give myself unconditionally,
To see you every day.
But the world is harsh,
She breeds pain,
And so I wait alone, looking for a way,
To show you all the pretty words,
I say to you are true,
And let you know I'm here for you,
No matter what you do.
Frustration breeds in the mind,
But the heart knows only love,
Out of the depths, into the sun,
We will rise above,
I'll carry you on wings of joy,
And show you what we can be
But only if it these things I say
will truly make you happy.
I am a selfish thing.
As aren't we all?
But I am trying -
so you know-
To be a better man,
Just for this, one little chance,
to take yours into my hand.
